Exiting the Building

If you are able to exit the building safely, do so immediately; moving away from the path of danger.

• Notify anyone you encounter to exit the building.
• Find a safe area away from the danger, and take protective cover. (stay there until help arrives)
• Call 9-911 and Campus Security 573-592-4357.
• Provide the dispatcher with the following information:

  Your name and exact location.

  Location of the incident (be as specific as possible).

  Number and description or identification of all armed intruders.

  Report any injuries, if known.    

Those who are not impacted by the situation are to take cover, staying away from all windows and doors until further notified.

Shelter In Place

• Go to the nearest room or office.
• Close and lock or secure the door.
• Turn off the lights.
• Keep as quiet as possible and DO NOT ANSWER THE DOOR.
• Call 9-911 and Campus Security 573-592-4357.
• Provide the dispatcher with the following information.
• Your name and exact location.
• Location of the incident (be as specific as possible).
• Number and description or identification of all armed intruders.
• Report any injuries, if known.    
• Wait for the local police or Campus Security to assist you out of the building-do not respond to a voice you do not know.
• Responding agencies are trained to respond to incidents of this nature. DO NOT APPROACH THEM; allow them to do their jobs.

When you need the police, fire or an emergency response, dial 9-911 from any university phone.

For campus security, dial 4357 (help) from a university phone or 592-4357 from a cell phone or off-campus phone.
