The Pre-Vet club is dedicated to helping and preparing students for Veterinary Medicine by creating a support system for them during their undergraduate years. The club works with speakers from around the area and hosts several of them to come and talk to not just the club, but the school as well, about their experience in the Medical world.
We also like to plan fun events that get members and other students involved with animals and other aspects of the vet world. Last semester the Pre-Vet club put together an informational session about taking care of your pets and how to know when they are sick and presented it to the fourth graders at McIntire Elementary School. Recently we had a veterinarian from Mizzou come and speak with the school about cancer and cancer research in dogs. It was a very interesting discussion and students left the event more knowledgeable about cancer and how the veterinarian achieved the goals she set out to accomplish.
The Pre-Vet club is considered a rather young club, having been established at WWU in Fall 2007. We are working with Mizzou and constantly trying to expand and open new doors for our members.
