Graphic Design Program

The graphic design program at the Woods combines creativity with leading-edge technology to prepare students for a career in the graphic design field. Courses in drawing, basic design, photography, and color theory serve as a foundation for more advanced studies in computer layout and design, digital imaging, electronic publishing and website design.

Portfolio development and professional preparation also play key roles in the graphic design curriculum. An annual portfolio review culminates with a senior exhibition in the university's art gallery highlighting student artistic achievements. Students also have the opportunity to work with actual clients during their final semester.

Students majoring in graphic design can receive one of three degrees: a bachelor of art, bachelor of fine art or a bachelor of science degree. Many students choose to minor in Business Administration as well.

Success in graphic design is directly related to a knowledge and understanding of technology. All students majoring in graphic design are required to have a notebook computer. In the hands of a creative person, a computer is a powerful tool for personal growth, exploration and artistic development.
