American Sign Language Studies Major
WWU offers a distinctive degree for people who wish to pursue a career working with
and among Deaf people. This degree allows a student to become proficient in American
Sign Language and Deaf culture in order to work in a variety of professions and/or
continue on to graduate school. This degree pairs well with all the majors in the
division of behavioral sciences, as well as with other majors on campus, such as education.
Bachelor of Arts
The Bachelor of Arts in American Sign Language Studies is comprised of 45 credits. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts must also complete a minor. Majors associated with the Bachelor of Arts are most appropriate to students seeking a liberal-learning, pre-professional or graduate school orientation.
