Home-Schooled Students

William Woods has experienced a dramatic increase in enrollment from the home-schooling population.  William Woods has found that our prospective and current home school students offer strong academics and a positive contribution to student life.

Admission Requirements

Home-schooled students must have at least an 19 ACT/ 860 SAT, have at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale from an accredited home school program and submit two letters of recommendation.  If the student does not

meet the criteria, they may be considered for Provisional Acceptance.  The application procedure will be considered complete when the following four items have been received:

Application for Admission

The completed form must be accompanied by an application fee of $25.

Fee waived if you apply online.

Current university admission policy requires that freshman admission candidates posess a high school diploma or a Certificate of Equivalence earned by successful completion of the GED (General Education Development) test.

Secondary School Transcript or diploma

If a diploma is not available the student can submit a GED or a curriculum outline, including a  list of correspondence courses, commercial curricula or syllabus for each subject taken.


ACT / SAT Test Scores

The student should request that the scores be sent to William Woods University, Office of Enrollment Services. ACT and SAT Scores are not required if the student has been out of school for more then five years.

References

The student should list two non-family members who are familiar with the student's academic work. (Teachers or professors are recommended although we do understand that sometimes teachers are family members).

Notice of Availability of Annual Security Report

A copy of William Woods University's Annual Security Report. This report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by William Woods University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies concerning sexual assault, and other matters. You can obtain a copy of this report by contacting the Office of Admissions at 573.592.4221 or 1.800.995.3159, x4221..
