Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education

A bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from William Woods University will prepare you to become an elementary teacher in grades 1-6, certified by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. You will be able to touch the lives and futures of children, their families and communities while experiencing one of the most fulfilling careers available.

Our evening program allows working adults to complete the bachelor’s degree and earn certification while they continue working full-time. Those who have previously completed a bachelor’s degree can join the cohort to complete the certification requirements without having to complete a second degree. The Bachelor of Science - Elementary Education is approved by DESE and fully accredited.

This degree program requires students to complete 38 hours of specific education courses and an additional 15 hours of student teaching and educational seminar. The student teaching will be completed in a public school classroom during a 12-week block at the end of the program. Student Teaching will require the student to be available during the school day for completion of this requirement.

Each six week class meets twice a week either on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays for 4 hours/night. The program will be 23 months long, including student teaching.

Instructors in the Elementary Education program are part of the Education Division of William Woods University, assuring students the same educational experience they would have attending the day program in Fulton.
