(St. LOUIS, Mo., Nov. 2)--The William Woods University men's soccer team finished the 2009 regular season with a 1-0 win at American Midwest Conference rival Harris-Stowe State University on Monday. The Owls finish the regular season 10-6-1 overall, and 3-4 in the AMC. This is the first time since the 2000 season William Woods has recorded double-digit wins. The Owls won 13 games in 2000.

 

The two teams went to halftime scoreless. WWU had four shots in the first 45 minutes. Harris-Stowe recorded three shots in the opening half.

 

The Owls scored in the 52nd minute to take a 1-0 lead. Senior Eric Ooton (Kansas City, Mo.) scored from the right wing over the top of the HSSU goalie. It was the first goal of the season for Ooton.

 

The Owls shutout the Hornets the rest of the way. WWU and HSSU recorded six shots each on the afternoon. The Owls put four shots on goal. The Hornets did not record a shot on goal.

 

Freshman Robert Thibodeaux (Lafayette, Mo.) recorded his fifth shutout of the season in the William Woods victory.

 

The Owls will return to action on November 7th in the American Midwest Conference postseason tournament. The site, and opponent, is to be determined.
