PRL325 Administrative & Employment Law

This course presents basic concepts of administrative law and procedure in federal and state agencies as specifically related to employment law. Students will learn both formal and informal advocacy techniques for representing a client in an administrative process. Substantive topics will include administrative delegation of power, rule making, agency discretionary powers, remedies, and judicial review and in the area of employment law, civil rights, sexual discrimination, Title VII discrimination and general principles of employment law. Procedural topics include agency operation, adjudication, hearing preparation, administrative hearing, alternative dispute resolution, exhaustion of remedies, and judicial appeals. 3 Credits
