Graduate Regulations

Academic Suspension

Students whose performance fails to meet program or University standards for continuation or degree award may be suspended for specified periods of time, after which an Application for Readmission may be submitted to the Vice President of Graduate and Professional Studies.

Suspensions, unlike Academic Dismissals, carry provisions which, at the student’s initiative, allow the suspension to be formally reconsidered and imply the possibility of the resumption of study.

Should the performance of a once-suspended student who has been authorized to resume study qualify for a second suspension, such qualification will result in Academic Dismissal rather than Academic Suspension.

Please refer to the Appeal Process if you have questions regarding a Probation/Suspension appeal.
