THE WOODS MAGAZINE SUMMER | 2013
25
Greetings! First, let me say what a thrill it is to be a member of the
William Woods University family. Since March, I’ve had the privilege
of getting to know the wonderful faculty, staff, alumni, administrators,
and parents who are dedicated to this wonderful institution. Then,
of course, there are the students; students like
Danielle Propst
and
Lincoln Purvis
who appear with me in my photo (that's me in the
middle!) Whether I’m fundraising, working on a marketing plan,
or attending an alumni event, I always remember, “It’s all about
the students.”
That’s why I’m so excited to expound on the wonderful $1 million
challenge grant from the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation noted by
President Barnett in her article. The key word is challenge and all of
us will need to pull together to earn the Mabee Million, which will go
toward the completion of the Imagine Campaign to include:
››
The Sorority Circle and Amphitheatre
››
An endowment for the Center for Ethics and Global Studies
››
The conversion of the president’s former home into the
Alumni and Visitors Center
These important initiatives are designed to strengthen the living,
learning, cultural enrichment, and professional engagement
opportunities of our students. To qualify for the Mabee Million,
the university must raise the additional $907,611 to complete the
Imagine Campaign by May 28, 2014.
The challenge, however, provides a wonderful incentive to our
alumni and friends. Anyone giving or pledging $5,000 or more to the
campaign will have their gift matched by the foundation. As an
example, an individual contributing or pledging $7,500 toward a
standard double room in Sorority Circle would qualify for a $7,500
match from the Mabee Foundation, thereby receiving a $15,000
naming opportunity!
The Mabee Foundation allows for gifts to be pledged over five years
so a $7,500 pledge can be paid off at $1,500 a year for five years. This
is a wonderful opportunity to double your money and provide valuable
student support at the same time!
For decades, the Mabee Foundation has partnered with William
Woods University, and we thank them for their continued support
and belief in our mission and vision.
For additional details on the Imagine Campaign initiatives,
the Mabee Foundation Challenge grant, and the available naming
opportunities, please go to the WWU website at

I would be personally honored to speak with you about
how you can invest in the future of our students through the
Mabee Million challenge. You may call me at 573.592.4220

Go Owls!
