“It will be an interesting professional duty and an enhancement to my teaching and research—(it is) another evidence of how our Internet capabilities allow us at a small institution to be part of the larger research community,” Spratt said.
The Visual Resources Collection is a principle component of the MicrobeLibrary, a renowned online peer-reviewed microbiology education resource. The editorial committee provides peer review of all submissions to the Visual Resources Collection prior to acceptance. Content, process, instruction, and evaluation components are evaluated closely.
Susan Bagley, professor of environmental microbiology at Michigan Technological University and chair of the ASM editorial committee, invited Spratt to join the committee.
“Based on your pedagogical expertise, active participation and service at undergraduate microbiology education conferences, past contributions to microbiology education including the Visual Resources Collection, and enthusiasm, I know that you will provide valued service to this committee,” Bagley said in a letter to Spratt.
Spratt, who has a Ph.D. in Physiology and Cell Biology (Neurophysiology) from the University of Kansas, has taught at William Woods since 1992.
