Representatives explained the mission and goals of their agencies and discussed possible collaboration efforts with students and faculty.
Organizations that participated included Callaway County United Way, Central Missouri Community Action, Equestrian Special Olympics, Faith Maternity Care, Fulton Preschool, PeaceJam and SERVE.
According to Cassie Davis, academic service-learning coordinator, the purpose of the fair was to investigate possible service-learning projects that could simultaneously meet classroom learning objectives and community needs.
“Benjamin Franklin said it best,” Davis commented. “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”
Rachel Rivenbark, a freshman from Story City, Iowa, and Angel Kothe, a sophomore from High Ridge, Mo., speak with Shirley Frye, a teacher’s aide from Fulton Preschool.
