WWU Equestrians Participate in Missouri Dressage Classic

Several members of the William Woods equestrian division participated in the Missouri Dressage Classic July 10-12.
Maggie O’Leary, Florissant, Mo., rode Raphaelo (Rizzo) in the Training Level Jr/YR division to win the Show Me State Games Gold Medal and overall show champion for her division. They earned two scores of 72 percent and their second qualifying score for the USDF Regional Dressage Championships.
Laura Weatherspoon, Fulton, Mo., riding Sylvester, won the Show Me State Games bronze medal in the Training Level Amateur Adult division, as well as reserve champions. They also earned their second qualifying score for the regional championships.
Jamie Large, St. Louis, Mo., rode Lamborghini (Sport) at the Missouri Dressage Classic to come home with high ribbons in each of their classes. Jamie and Sport had only ridden together a few times before the show.
Kaitlyn McIlvaine, Hinsdale, Ill., rode new addition L.A. Hardway to win good ribbons at First Level. L.A. Hardway was the oldest horse at the show.
Morgan Williams, Cape Girardeau, Mo., rode her own horse, Sahara’s Starr, to blues at Third level and earned the final score necessary to earn her USDF Bronze Medal.
WWU Dressage Instructor Karen Pautz coached several outside (non-WWU) horses and riders at the show, and one of those riders earned a score of 81 percent.
