WWU Names Wells Honorary Alumnus

Ben WellsBen Wells of ­­­­Coral Gables, Fla., and Youngstown, N.Y., was named an honorary alumnus during William Woods University’s Alumni Weekend, April 23-25. Honorary alumni are selected in recognition of their distinguished personal achievement and outstanding community service.
 
Wells is a member of the executive committee of the William Woods University Board of Trustees, and the vice president and chief financial officer for the Burger King Corporation. He has nearly 30 years of financial experience and serves as a key member of the Burger King executive leadership team.
 
After earning his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Missouri-Columbia, Wells went on to receive a master’s degree in economics from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in business administration from Canisius College.
 
Prior to joining Burger King, Wells was the vice president and corporate treasurer at Compaq Computer Corporation. He also held various financial and treasury responsibilities over a 10-year period at British Petroleum.
 
Wells was the commencement speaker in 2009 when his daughter, Kate, graduated from WWU.
