Theatre Season to Close with County Fair Comedy

Joe Potter, WWU assistant professor and artistic director of theatre, promises this is “ a comedy of non-stop laughter.” Faye reads her poetry out-loud, Mildred displays her ceramic depiction of the Last Supper, Ruth Ann makes rum divinity cake, Naomi does “chic” hairstylin’ and Violet makes appliquéd toilet seat covers.
“There’s life, love and death at the Faith County Fair,” Potter said. “If you liked our production of Dearly Departed a few years ago, you’ll love Faith County.”
Potter will direct this theatre production, and the performances are scheduled for April 25 and 26 and May 2 and 3 at 8 p.m. The matinee performance is scheduled for April 27 at 2:30 p.m.
Student cast members are Lindsey Mertes, a junior from Branson, as Mildred Carson; Sherree LaMere, a sophomore from Hallsville, as Faye McFaye; Meghan Parks, a freshman from Quincy, Ill., as Ruthann Barns; Jamie Heisler, a sophomore from Portland, Ore., as Naomi Farkle; Grant Lierheimer, a senior from Mexico, Mo., as Luther Carson; Ellen Gilmer, a freshman from Des Moines, Iowa, as Violet Farkle, and Jason Flauaus, a junior from St. Peters, Mo., as Bubba Bedford.
In addition, two members of the Fulton community have parts in the play. They are Michael Wilson, a dentist at Fulton State Hospital, and Suzy Johnston, Callaway County circuit clerk.
