Chelsea LoethenChelsea Loethen of Meta, Mo., has been named to the 2011 edition of “Who’s Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”

She was one of 14 William Woods University students selected for Who’s Who based on outstanding campus leadership.

Loethen, an athletic training major, was also named Distinguished Scholar in athletic training. The faculty of various disciplines at William Woods have the opportunity each spring to designate one graduating senior as a Distinguished Scholar. A campus nominating committee and editors of the annual directory chose the Who’s Who students based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.

By being listed in “Who’s Who,” Loethen joins an elite group of students from more than 2,300 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states. Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory since it was first published in 1934.

Loethen was president of WWU’s Athletes Council for three years, a member of the Athletic Training Student Organization for four years, a member of Campus Standards Board for two years, member of a polity changing committee with the dean of student life, an orientation mentor and a Freshman Advantage peer mentor.

A member of the WWU softball team, Loethen has achieved academic all-conference, NFCA academic all-region and honorable mention all-AMC honors.
