William Woods University’s English honorary society, Sigma Tau Delta, will host a campus kickball tournament, Saturday, Sept. 10. Members of Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) fraternity will assist with the event.

Proceeds from the kickball tournament will be used by Sigma Tau Delta to fund the annual Young Writer’s Competition, which encourages creative language and writing as well as fostering literacy in elementary and middle school aged students.

Each team will consist of seven co-ed players and pay $7 per member, which includes lunch and refreshments during the tournament. The games will begin at noon on the softball field in Backer Sports Complex on Crestwood Drive. Spectators are welcome, and there is no admission charge.

Sigma Tau Delta, an international English honor society, was established in 1924 to confer distinction upon students of the English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate and professional studies. Chapters have been established at colleges and universities in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and the Caribbean.
