William Woods University alumna Sarah Harbour has been selected as the Medical Fitness Association’s (MFA) Central Region Rising Star for manager/supervisor staff.

A 2003 WWU graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training, Harbour lives in Fulton. She is employed at the Sam B. Cook Healthplex Fitness Center in Jefferson City, Mo., as an exercise specialist and aerobics coordinator.

“Sarah has a lot of passion for what she does and this shines through in her energy and enthusiasm that she puts forth in her job. She provides quality services, professionalism and leadership to all of our staff and clients she comes in contact with,” said Kay Benward, Healthplex Fitness Center supervisor.

This award honors outstanding achievement and leadership within the fitness community, which Harbour exemplifies in every way. She is actively pursuing an advanced degree and basic life support (BLS) instructor training, which recently allowed her to assist a Healthplex member and save his life.

Honored at the Central Region meeting in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Harbour will now be recognized at the Medical Fitness Association’s annual conference Nov. 30–Dec. 3 in Orlando, Fla. She will also be featured in an issue of MFA’s newsletter. She also received September’s Shining Star of the Month Award at Capital Regional Medical Center.
