William Woods University offers elementary children the chance to make handmade gifts and cards for their friends and family. There will also be games, a short movie during snack time, Christmas songs, an art gallery tour and educational session.

The event, called Kemper Kids Create: Christmas at the Woods, will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 10 in the Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts. There is a charge of $20 for the first child and $15 for each additional child from the same family.

“Parents will drop off their children at this one-day Christmas camp and have a day to go Christmas shopping,” said Jennifer Sain, Mildred M. Cox Gallery coordinator and the event producer.

Lunch will not be provided, so children will need to bring a sack lunch. However, all the materials, snacks, and drinks will be provided.

Invitations have been sent to Callaway County public elementary schools and St. Peter Catholic School.  Registration forms are due by 4:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, in KAC 120.

According to Sain, Kemper Kids Create is a new program of the WWU division of arts and humanities, and this is the first event. They hope to have more events like this one throughout the year.
