William Woods University will conduct its third annual Arts Encounter: A Visual, Performing and Communications Arts Program on Feb. 24.

Prospective students interested in visual, performing and communication arts programs at WWU will have the opportunity to team up with faculty to receive a first-hand look at what it is like to be a student in their field of interest.

Emphasis will be on programs in art, graphic design, communication, theatre and ASL interpreting.

An invitation is also extended to high school seniors to audition or present a portfolio for a visual, performing or communication arts scholarship.

Prospective students will take a tour of the campus, learn about WWU scholarship and financial aid opportunities and enjoy lunch in the Mildred Cox art Gallery. Current students will be present to answer any questions the prospective students might have.

"This is a unique admissions event," says Dr. Aimee Sapp, chair of the art and humanities division. "The prospective students receive personalized attention."

Last year, 15 prospective students attended, and Sapp anticipates an increase in attendance this year.

Reservations are required. To register, call 573.592.4221 or go to www.WiliamWoods.edu/Visit. The deadline to RSVP is Monday, Feb. 20.
