William Woods University will host a career fair March 6 for the benefit of students and employers. The fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the Helen Stephens Sports Complex.

Amy Dittmer, director of career services, has invited more than 300 businesses and organizations to the event and hopes to have employers representing every academic major.

Students aren't the only ones who will profit from the career fair.

"They (businesses and organizations) connect with possible employees and clientele, and further market their business," Dittmer said.

Dittmer sent out "save the date" and invitations and has heard back from returning and new businesses, which creates an assorted mix.

Last year a follow-up survey was distributed to students and businesses.

"We listen to what students want," Dittmer said, "which is why we're trying to get new, diverse groups."

Businesses also reported back that they were happy with the turnout of students.

Dittmer advises students to attend the career fair, as it is strictly for their benefit. Students needing help organizing or creating their resume, can receive assistance from Dittmer. Her office on the first level of in the McNutt Campus Center, directly across from the mail room.

Organizations and businesses can register online by Feb. 29 at www.williamwoods.edu/student_life/career_services.asp. Registration is $25 for two people and includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
