Lori Hart, award-winning speaker, to offer advice at WWU

Award-winning speaker, Dr. Lori Hart, will tell about the messages she wished she had heard while she was in college during a speech at William Woods University. She will speak at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 in Cutlip Auditorium of McNutt Campus Center.

 One of the busiest speakers on the college circuit, Hart talks about Greek life, alcohol, gender communication, relationships and leadership.  The event is free and open to the public.  

"The relationship with yourself is the number one relationship you need to focus on," Hart says.  

Hart has a bachelor's degree in education from Auburn University, a master's degree in education from the University of Montevallo and a doctorate degree in higher education from Georgia State University.  

A resident of Atlanta, Ga., Hart has been a speaker for CAMPUSPEAK and director of alcohol education for Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. She has been an active volunteer for Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity for 18 years, serving in a variety of local and national positions. 

Hart has served as the southern vice president for the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA), chairman for the NIC's Alcohol/Recruitment Report and a senior leader and keynote speaker at the National Conference on Ethics in America at the United States Military Academy. Campus Activities Magazine named her Speaker of the Year in 2007. A string of other accomplishments and awards have followed since.  

Hart visits around 100 campuses a year. She utilizes her sense of humor to relate to her audience and deliver her messages of advice and to challenge her audience.  

"I believe that young people - if they want to be successful in all areas of their lives - really need to figure out what they value and live their lives accordingly," she said.
