William Woods University’s Thriving Artists’ Group will host an event for families in the community this Halloween. The Dia de los Muertos celebration will feature art projects, education about the ancient Mexican holiday and more for children of all ages.

The Dia de los Muertos Halloween celebration will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31 in the lobby of Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts. Admission is free.

The group invites parents to bring their children dressed in their Halloween costumes to decorate skull-shaped cookies, listen to music and take pictures with the friendly skeleton.

The celebration will also incorporate the culture of Dia de los Muertos.  Guests can sample the traditional “dead bread,” create take-home art projects and watch an educational presentation on the holiday.

The Thriving Artists’ Group includes William Woods students passionate about the fine arts.  The club hosts several events throughout the year educating students and the Fulton community on the arts, such as events and programs that reach out to children in the area through Kemper’s Kids.

The next Kemper’s Kids event will be an all-day Christmas celebration, set to take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 8.
