November was a busy month for the William Woods University Saddle Seat group, beginning with the 2012 Equestrian Academic Showcase on campus and continuing with the American Royal in Kansas City, where they earned a championship and reserve championship.

Tiffany and Steve Wheeler of Louisville, Ky., conducted riding clinics both days of the showcase, Nov. 3 and 4.  Many horse and rider combinations showing at the American Royal rode with the Wheelers in final preparation for the show.

“Young, energetic and very talented (and, of course, Tiffany is a William Woods graduate), the couple was very kind to the students and seemed to have a wonderful weekend here in Fulton,” Sarah Track, WWU clinical instructor of equestrian studies/saddle seat, said.

This year William Woods took 10 horse and rider combinations to the American Royal National Championship Horse Show Nov. 13-17.

“Bringing home one championship and one reserve championship, William Woods was once again superbly represented by its students,” Track said.  “The students did such a great job; I was so proud of all of them.”

The results:
Ashton Street and “The Straight Guy” were the Missouri/Kansas Adult Country Pleasure Champions and Grand Champions. “Mojo,” as he’s called, was Champion and Grand Champion in 2011 with Lauren Greenwald, and in 2010 Beth Oseroff showed the same horse to two third places in the Open division of the Adult Country Pleasure.
