Business Protocol, Etiquette Seminar to be Held at WWU

These questions and others will be addressed when William Woods University hosts a two-hour interactive seminar on “Business Protocol and Etiquette in the 20th Century and Beyond.” The seminar is part of the President’s Concert and Lecture Series.
The program, which targets primarily university students, is put on by the Ritz-Carlton Leadership Center and will be held at 7 p.m. April 13 in Dulany Auditorium. The speaker, Suzanne Willis, is director of public relations for Ritz-Carlton hotels in Florida. Considered an “etiquette expert,” she has been teaching etiquette for years to children, young adults and seniors.
Willis hopes to help participants understand how business protocol and etiquette can give them an edge in important situations. She plans to use humor and real world scenarios to reinforce the importance of such characteristics.
Participants will learn about the do’s and don’ts at an interview; office hierarchy and protocol; use of the telephone; protocol and privacy (handling confidential information), and navigating a meal at a business meeting.
The Ritz-Carlton Leadership Center was launched in 2000, and now works with thousands of senior executives, managers and line staff from all business industries. It has flourished as a resource center for leading organizations interested in benchmarking many business practices.
The leadership center is a two-time recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. In addition, for a fifth consecutive year, in 2004 the Ritz-Carlton was ranked in the top 10 among Training Magazine’s “Top 100 Training Organizations.”
