YMCA: Volunteers needed for the YMCA Small Fry Basketball Clinics held on Weds from 5-7pm beginning March 1st, every Wed in March except Wed, March 17th.
Small Fry Clinics will consist of various stations teaching 3-6 year olds the fundamentals of basketball.

PeaceJam: College students are invited to serve as a Heartland PeaceJam mentor on April 17th, 2010. Mentors act as group facilitators of 10-12 high school age youth, participate and lend support to the events activities including workshops, service-projects, and more! Camp Guardian: Volunteer Camp Staff opportunities available (including free room and board, food and fun!!) at Camp Guardian July 23-27, 2010 at Lake of the Ozarks (at Camp Rising Sun). Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, with a comfort level in working with people with disabilities, and attend a web-based training. **(Other): Students are invited to join a grassroots effort initiated by WWU Professor Jack Dudley and SERVE's RSVP program to join with other volunteers in the community providing the following services:
(1) Aid older adults in basic outdoor yard maintenance and minor home repair.
(2) Teach basic computer skills (e-mail, Word, & pictures) to home-bound or older adults.
(3) Mentor at-risk youth in the area.

Boy Scouts: Volunteers needed for Den Leaders, assistant Cub Masters, Assistant Scoutmaster, District Committee Member, fundraisers, and Commissioners (advisors to leaders). Contact: Rob at 660-676-3088.
Bridgeway Residential Care Facility: Right now there are almost 50 residents, ages 18-80, residing at the facility with medical and mental health diagnoses. Volunteers to create and host fun recreational activities for their TERRIFIC residents appreciated. Contact: Bill Rudroff (573-489-7770).
Callaway County Emergency Management: Someone to serve as a volunteer coordinator, assist with getting Tier II information into CAMEO, update contact information, assist with updating the Emergency Operations Plan, assist with organizing files, general office help, assist with public education programs and/or with the Wally Wise Guy Program in area elementary schools. CARD-V: (1) Childcare on Tuesdays from 12-2pm: help children by reading, playing games, etc.while parents are in sessions. (2) Volunteer directly with our clients on the 24-hour crisis line, on court advocacy, or on other services involving client contact. *Training Required. Central Missouri Community Action (CMCA): Individual volunteer tasks are available, including tutoring, office assistance, assisting with facilitation of workshops, career building (resume assistance, practice interview skills, etc.), occasional construction tasks at office, light maintenance & grounds work and other tasks. Groups are welcome to do collection items for budgeting classes, weatherization kits, support group fundraising for local support. Community organizations to assist with or host Poverty Simulations. Central Missouri Food Bank: (1) Run a food drive on campus or in the community. The food raised goes directly to local food pantries. (2) Volunteer as a group at the food bank in Columbia, Missouri. Repackage food donated in bulk in smaller containers to be distributed to various food pantries across mid-Missouri. Located in Columbia. More information. Churchill Terrace Assisted Living by Americare: (Nursing Home near Callaway Hospital) Paint ladies nails, talk with residents, music, go on walks, play bingo and other games. Contact: Barbara Buschert.
Dream Factory (Audrain County): Grants dreams to critically and chronically ill children ages 3-18 years. They host annual fundraisers (i.e. Spagetti Dinner in March) to make this possible. Volunteer opportunities include: Fundraising, Special Events, Public Relations, Information Technology, Community Relations, Corporate Sponsorship, and Dream Screening & Selection. Americas Moms for Soldiers: “This is a program that sends monthly "care packages" to our soldiers in Forward Operating Bases (F.O.B.s) in Iraq and Afghanistan.…to those who do not receive packages and mail from home. Hatton-Mccredie Elementary School: Volunteers (approximately 10) needed to help run games at the school carnival in March. Games are pre-planned, pre-setup, and all the materials are provided. The school is 5 miles outside of Kingdom City. Contact: Sara Simms at 573-220-2266.
Head Start: (1) Classroom help - Volunteers needed to work with the kids (M-F 9-11am & 12-1pm). To volunteer more than 2 hours per month with the kids, a background check, a physical, and some immunizations must be had. (2) Volunteers also needed for office help, cleaning/maintenance, kitchen help, lobby for a summer extension to the program, & fundraising for much needed resources and supplies. Missouri Girls Town: Would love it if a group of students (Education or Social Work students?) could start a weekly/bi-weekly/montly club at Missouri Girls Town and do craft projects, take some field trips, or just hang out. Midwest Foster Care & Adoption Association: This non-profit would love to work with students who would like to be involved with a non profit community project. They have foster parent meetings the 2nd Tuesday each month from 6-8:30pm & are in need of volunteers to help do activities with the foster children and help hold babies. Our House- Wylie House: Wylie House provides temporary housing for the homeless. Volunteers needed in the evenings from approximately 6-8pm to help guests check in or be a listening ear. Brief training required. Contact Wylie House if interested.

Senior Center: Volunteers needed to deliver meals to homebound clients Monday thru Thursday. Most routes are in Fulton with the exception of one route in Auxvasse and one in New Bloomfield & Holt Summit areas that run every other week. Contact: Patty @ 573-642-2458.
SERVE: (1) Food pantry: stock shelves, distribute food, and screen clients (MWF 9-12pm, & T -2nd & 4th- from 5-7pm). (2) Clothes Cupboard: set up displays, light cleaning, sorting donations, etc. (3) Cal-Tran Office: data entry, filing, and record keeping (4) Adult Basic Education courses: facilitators & tutors for (Mon-Thurs, 6-8pm). (5) Garden work: prepare, maintain, and harvest the garden at SERVE, produce goes directly to the pantry. (6) Adopt-a-Family: (November-December) to assist with cleaning, collecting, and distributing items.

Women2Women (a United Way program): Women’s Network continually works to gather donations each month for the Women2Women program. These items (clothing, personal items, shoes, purses, office supplies, etc) are housed at the Clothes Cupboard. The items are for women preparing to enter or re-enter the workforce. Central Missouri Community Action (CMCA): More extensive agency side support in development work and fundraising board participation, and policy work on poverty issues. CROP Walk: Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty (CROP) is hosts a walk every year in October to work towards eradicating hunger and poverty at home and abroad. Form a team and help raise money! Contact the Office of Academic Service-Learning for more information.
HALO: Be a part of a grassroots organization with worldwide reach! Started by a native of nearby Jefferson City, The HALO Foundation (Helping Art Liberate Orphans) provides art therapy as well as food, shelter, clothing and educational needs to hundreds of orphans in 7 different countries across the globe. Volunteering for HALO means being involved directly for improving the quality of life for those less fortunate, and truly giving of yourself, your time and your unique talents. United Way: Has "carefully selected and fund[s] 13 local agencies in the community that provide over 200 programs and services to those in need. In addition to funding our agencies the United Way also sponsors 5 community impact initiatives to help those in need and to better our community" (http://www.callawayunitedway.com/, 11/1/09). The Fall 2009 Campaign Goal is $250,000, as of 11/1/09 about 40% of that has been met. Check online to see where they are now and how you can help them reach this goal.

2-1-1/Callaway County United Way: The 2-1-1 service in Missouri is a 24-hour, seven-day-a week, 365 day-a-year service, which provides callers with information about and referrals to health and human services for every day needs and in time of crisis. Fresh Air Fulton:
"Fresh Air Fulton is a group of local citizens coming together to support a healthier Fulton community by supporting smoke-free indoor air policies and helping to protect those who are exposed to secondhand smoke." They provide education in accordance with this stance and are " actively seeking support from Fulton residents through a sign-up database". Visit them on-line to find out more.
