Job Title: General Maintenance Technician

General Description:
William Woods University is accepting applications for a full-time General Maintenance Technician. The General Maintenance Technician performs duties including electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry work, maintenance of equipment, and daily and seasonal duties relating to all aspects of general maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete repairs in accordance to work orders and/or priorities.
- Replace and/or repair fixtures and fittings associated with campus plumbing.
- Assist with maintenance of equipment.
- Work on controls of equipment.
- Daily and seasonal duties relating to all aspects of general maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Varied work experience preferably in building housekeeping, general maintenance, and/or construction.
- Any combination of education training or experience that provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Ability to operate various hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
- Ability to install and/or repair windows, doors, appliances, and equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions such as planning documents and blueprints.
- A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required.
Typical Physical Demands:
- Ability to climb several flights of stairs several times each day.
- Ability to lift, push or pull up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, bend, walk or stand for long periods.
- Ability to be subjected to chemical, mechanical or electrical hazards.
- Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.
- Ability to be subjected to motor or machine noise.
- Ability to wear protective clothing or work irregular hours.
- Ability to be exposed to dusts, fumes and odoriferous working conditions.
- Ability to speak and read English fluently.
- Ability to hear.
- Ability to use a computer keyboard.
- Effective mobility skills required to move about freely and quickly in office and on campus.
- Must have a valid driver's license and adhere to the WWU vehicle policy.
- ABle to drive any type of vehicle without restrictions, and able to drive any type of machinery as needed.
Work Schedule:
This is a 12-month, non-exempt position requiring 40 hours per week with on-call responsibilities and occasional weekend, holiday, and evening work as needed.
