Your Degree Plan and You
Your Academic Advisor
We all have important “go to” people in our lives. Your academic advisor is there to assist you in building your degree plan, answering many program-related questions, and to assist you in determining “next steps” -- all to help you flourish!
Degree Plan Considerations
Multiple things are taken into consideration when developing a degree plan. Special consideration is given to the following areas:
- degree completion goals
- number of courses per semester
- maintaining financial aid eligibility
- program requirements
- course/program prerequisites
- transfer/credentialed learning credit received
- personal and professional schedules
- course sequence and availability
- overall student success
Changing your Degree Plan
If you need to change your schedule, contact your academic advisor. Your advisor will review your request and offer insight into how this proposed change may impact your degree plan. Changes in enrollment may have a direct impact on financial aid awards. Reminder - Official enrollment changes must be verified in writing. Your William Woods University email account is the official mode of communication for schedule changes and official university notifications.
Understanding your Degree Plan
Your degree plan is like a roadmap toward completion of your degree. In addition to being able to see what courses you are enrolled in, you can also use your degree plan to determine how many credit hours you are enrolled in per semester and to track your billing statement and financial aid awards!
Another great function of a degree plan is that you can see how much you have accomplished as you complete each eight-week class session. The secret to success is to be engaged in the process so that you will not only know where you are on your plan to earn your degree but that you will know where you are heading!
